Paul Arveson
The course will be taught by the Principals and Associates of The Balanced Scorecard Institute. These instructors have specialised expertise in balanced scorecard training, facilitation and consulting in public and private-sector organisations. Read more below about your expert workshop leader, Paul Arveson, Director of Training, Balanced Scorecard Institute. Paul Arveson’s experience includes facilitating balanced scorecard and performance measurement workshops, information technology strategic planning, knowledge management, performance measurement process improvement, and the application of computer systems engineering to practical business problems. He is a frequent speaker at government and industry workshops on strategic planning, balanced scorecards, and performance measurement. Previously, Mr. Arveson was a research physicist in the Navy, a systems developer and consultant with NASDAQ, and a technology architect in the Offi ce of Science at the U.S. Department of Energy under a contract with Stanley Associates, Inc. His efforts in monitoring technology acquisition saved the Government over a million dollars through cost avoidance and shared licensing of products. Subsequently, Paul and his team won an IT Quality Award for “Management and Administrative Excellence.” Mr. Arveson is a Fellow in the Washington Academy of Sciences, and a member of the American Society for Quality, the American Evaluation Society and the Institute of Management Consultants. Mr. Arveson founded the Balanced Scorecard Institute in 1998 as a global resource for balanced scorecard information. He has led training and facilitation seminars with the Balanced Scorecard Institute at the Brookings Institution and other locations. He has taught sessions in building and implementing balanced scorecards at the University of Maryland, Regent University, Strayer University, Georgian Court College and others. He has taught workshops in balanced scorecard development for the International Productivity and Quality Institute and the Performance Institute. Strategic Planning. Mr. Arveson represented his Directorate in strategic planning retreats for the Naval Surface Warfare Center. He participated in the Chief Information Officer’s Council and helped to developed the first Internet and intranet management policy for the Center.

Kevin T. Zemetis
Kevin T. Zemetis, PMP is an expert strategic planning and management instructor, facilitator and consultant focused on structured organizational development. Kevin has led strategic planning and management workshops with numerous public, non-profit and private organizations in the Americas, Africa and Europe. He has recently successfully led facilitation and consulting efforts to create organizational-level strategic planning and management systems structured around the balanced scorecard for numerous non-profit and public sector clients such as the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the US Department of Commerce, the YMCA of Houston, the National Marrow Donor Program as well as for the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin. Kevin has led experiential strategic planning and management learning activities at numerous universities and conferences world-wide. Kevin is a former U.S. Government program manager with 30 years of government service with postings in the U.S., Europe, Central and South America and Asia. Kevin led the development and deployment of the first-ever Balanced Scorecard for the Joint Interagency Task Force South, and served as the Program Manager for that organization's Strategic Leadership System. He managed the strategic initiative portfolio for the organization, leading to enhanced organizational capacity and significant inter-agency process improvements which resulted in significant improvements to key organizational outcomes. He administered training and standardization programs as well as operations departments in many government organizations.Kevin is a former Master Army Aviator and Instructor Pilot with over 5000 flight hours primarily in the UH-60 Black Hawk. He is an Instructional Systems Designer and has in-depth experience with the acquisition, and implementation of Learning Management Systems. Additionally he has significant experience in operational risk management and reduction. He holds a BS in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Daytona Beach, FL), and an MS in Quality Systems Management from the National Graduate School of Systems Management (Falmouth, MA). Kevin is a member of the Society of Organizational Learning, the American Society for Quality, and holds a Project Management Institute (PMI) certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP). Mr. Zemetis speaks fluent Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese.
